My rants are plenty in regard to the WorkCover system and my efforts to express the limitations and lack of support I’ve experienced as an injured worker for almost 7 years have been endless. All efforts have led to the usual dead-end letter from a WorkSafe Agent, Government body, WorkSafe themselves, if not the dead silence and ignorance that’s on offer for most workers’ concerns.
I was ecstatic when I heard about Kris Vanston and The Scheme Project. and I offered to jump on board and help in any way I could. Theo and I have signed the petition and have both made our pledges. Recently we took our support one step further and spoke up in front of the cameras for The Scheme Project’s Pozible campaign promo.
WorkSafe’s mission statement is, ‘…quality care and insurance protection to workers and employers’. From my experience, that couldn’t be furthest from the truth.
Please show your support by signing, pledging and sharing this video. It’s in every worker’s and employer’s best interest that the WorkCover system is updated and the myth that ‘injured workers wrought the system’ is finally buried.
Help expose the truth, demand a better system.
Conspiracies could include any misleading, restricted or contradicted information that stems from the government, worksafe or it’s insurers, some of them are as follows:
Is there really a compensation culture in this country?
What is the suicide rate of people under the Workcover system?
Are the independent doctors employed by the system really independent?
Why has the mass media somewhat neglected this issue as a whole?
Why does the system allow insurers to use ‘delay and deny’ strategies?
Why does the system promote an injury management model rather than a progressive therapeutic system?
Some of the stories that will be exposed:
A story where an injured worker’s insurer put them on suicide watch, rather than pay for their medical expenses.
Stories about insurers who spend more money to restrict injured workers from medical treatments or expense.
Insurance companies using loopholes, technicalities and bullying behaviour to deny innocent working Australians of medical treatment
Professional opinions from the medical industry about how the system itself causes secondary injuries.
It is amazing how injured workers the real victims get mistreated and bullied by wc.
I am trying to survive after 5 years of hell. My life has been put on hold and my future looks dim. My issue s with independent examiners who are paid to lie just for the money paid to them by the insurer. There is such an independent examiner who you must refuse to see at all csts e cause he is not for the sufferer. He is practising in Fitzroy by the initials CJ. Cant tell you cor legal reasons as i am making a frmal complaint afainst him so otheres dont suffer the same fate.
Look up and Suss him out he is a liar who works fr the insurer. Because of his blatant lies about my injury he has placed me in trauma trying to get my medical expenses reinstated. If u are referred to him. Run run run- he is nothing but a nightmare. He will keep you waiting for more than 2 hours in his chaotic rooms. he will not back you and is prepared to lie and make up stories such as its all in your head, the pain is due to ur age etc etc, yet other doctors have given me permanent disability.i think there should be a website to name and shame such supposed professionals. As for the insurers, do nt trust them they will steal your mind and spirit lie a thief in the nite. Be wary and fight on. Don’t give up the fight …..
So sad to feel the frustration in that post Anonymous. I understand you, some examiners are truly horrific. What oath they took is a mystery to me. One of their own kind and one that certainly benefits the insurer and not the patient. They do exist though and I hope thescheme.com.au will expose these people soon. Injured workers have a voice now, it’s social media and these examiners will pay with the horrid reputation they make for themselves. You don’t give up fighting either! Thanks for the support.
Thank you Soula for your continued efforts in bringing policy change to the forefront of government decision makers.
And thank you too Kathryn for your messages of support and gorgeous emails. Honestly the pain family is a very close knit one. We suffer enough with our injuries, we all want to work, there are ways for us all to manage something for our wellbeing. We need proper support though. We currently don’t have that.
