Have I helped you in any way? That is my complete intention because raving on about living with chronic illness isn’t fun. So your smallest act of gratitude would mean the world to me (and to the ongoing management of this website).

August 28th, 2020|

8am – 12noon tradies here ‘fixing’ heating/cooling unit (making noise, causing disruption and breaking much-needed silence). + Phone calls, all day (important, relating to mum’s future care plan). + Huge tree on nature strip is splitting. Council team arrive with arborist to lighten the tree’s top load until it can be removed Monday – NOISE outside the studio! […]

Road Surface – Smooth Please

August 27th, 2020|

I keep on learning about my sensitivities – it’s mind-boggling! Had someone told me I’d feel the difference between a smooth-surfaced road and a rough-surfaced road while travelling in a car I would have stared at them in disbelief. But truly, I can! And the difference it makes to my body is significant. It’s not just vibration we’re talking about – it’s the sound too. I need a Rolls-Royce! Better still, a hot air balloon (so long as there isn’t another pop!). Given I hardly get in the car to head to Melbourne, this has taken a long time [...]

SOOVit

August 22nd, 2020|

So many great things happen when you turn 50! Here are some friends I didn’t expect to pop around. But then again, with all the resting on the toilet, endless spasms of the bowel, the disruption to toileting due to Pudendal Neuralgia, I should have expected this! Surprisingly (and the reason I’m bothering to share these not so glamorous details) is that the treatment I’ve tried for the suddenly vocal rectal friends is so soooooothing in more ways than directed. Again, it totally makes sense that all the goodness in this vaseline type ointment is going to numb more [...]

Q&A With Soula

August 20th, 2020|

I often have some very interesting questions about living with chronic pain. Usually, they are questions relating to details that I’ve never thought of discussing, but they are so important. This page will keep building as questions and answers accumulate. The page may have served better as a community type page but I’d like to monitor the Q&A and also keep contributors’ anonymous. This way, more of you may be encouraged to ask the tougher questions. Remember, I’m not an expert and I’ll be answering from my personal experience. Feel free to email me your question. I’ll contact you [...]

Change of Rhythm

August 18th, 2020|

I’m going to change things a little on the site. There’s been a build-up of pressure relating to advocacy in the past year. I gave it up and then COVID-19 dragged me back to it again. The pressure of questioning thoughts; what do I write, what will help other people living with pain, what will be useful information, etc. was putting the pressure on! This is not how I usually rattle off in my journal. In my journal, I begin to write and the thoughts just flow. The process and results are often so much [...]

Response From the Minister

July 26th, 2020|

For a second time, the Victorian Ombudsman (VO) investigated WorkSafe and their insurer’s activities. Deborah Glass described her findings as ‘Immoral and unethical’. Certainly, that fits the description of my experience with this system over the last 13 years. What I also read in the report fitting with my experience, was the point that every ‘professional’ that appears ‘for’ the system is being paid. The only participant not being paid in the compensation process is the injured worker. Let’s think about that. I watch the many class actions brought forward by Australians and I wonder when that day will [...]
